It is easy to see why the 911 R was the envy of Porsche customers and fans everywhere upon its announcement at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, selling out before a single car was built. Powerful, engaging, and classic, the 911 R combined the otherworldly 493 horsepower 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat six of the GT3 RS with the wingless body of the GT3, and crucially, a six-speed manual transmission in lieu of the GT3 RS's PDK. From the RS, the 911 R inherited its magnesium roof, carbon fiber front and rear lids, and carbon fiber fenders, making it the lightest 911 variant available by 113 pounds.
