Chassis No. 9308800226
Just two years removed from its 'Exclusive, Expensive, Explosive' debut, the 911 Turbo was already receiving updates from Porsche's engineers, always hard at work. The engine, enlarged to 3.3-liters, received an intercooler and an enlarged rear wing to suit with the resulting in power and aerodynamic benefits confirmed from miles on the track with the 917/30 Can Am car. Brake calipers were now cast, finned aluminum and the wheels 16 inch. A fact lost on many, the interior of the 930 was even more luxurious than the standard 911 SC so that speed and style mixed as one.
Sold new on 13 March 1978 by Herman-Miller Porsche/Audi in Parsippany, New Jersey, this Black over black leather 911 Turbo is a striking, original example featuring a matching numbers engine and transmission as per the accompanying Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Additional options ordered when new include an electric sliding sunroof, passenger side view mirror, and a black headliner. By 1978 sport seats had become standard on the 911 Turbo, and as a result, those ordering a 930 were held in place by Recaro's most comfortable long distance seats. With records dating back to 1990, this 930 features a glass-out repaint in 2009, a full engine out service including seals and gaskets in 2016, followed by a June 2022 service including new CV joints, a four wheel alignment, and a complete AC system overhaul among other items. This well ordered and well cared for 930 is completed by its original owners manuals, service book, tool kit, and a service history file dating back to 1990.
