Launched in 1966, Maserati quickly gave the Ghibli a more sporting prowess three years later in 1969 by bestowing the car with a 355-horsepower 4.9 L V8 breathing through four Weber carburetors. This uprated Ghibli was dubbed the SS and paired with its wonderfully penned body lines by Giorgetto Giugiaro it was an excellent GT car more than capable of going against their rivals from Modena.

This particular Ghibli features a known ownership history starting with the original purchaser, the famed baseball player Bo Belinsky. Belinsky's Ghibli SS was the perfect fit for the ballplayer who was known as, 'The Playboy Pitcher.' In late 1980, his then ex-wife, Jane, sold the car to the next owner through Alfa Romeo of Tacoma, Washington with a mere 14,000 miles. A long-term owner, he kept the car for the following 36 years until it was sold in 2017 to the consigning family.

In 1989, courtesy of the second owner, the car received a repaint at which time the original Argento Auteuil (silver) was changed to the current shade of Black that it wears today. Regular service work was performed until 2012, when in 2015, some careful restorative work took place. The original engine was removed to be rebuilt as well as freshen up the interior of the car. All of this work is supported by receipts from Alfa Romeo of Tacoma, Washington.

This fine example of a Ghibli SS benefits from a known ownership chain and each of those owners' careful and conscious dedication to preservation. With just 61,600 miles since new, its fourth owner should be prepared for all of the thrills and excitement this thoroughbred sports car provided to the first three.
