In 1940, Cadillac introduced the world to the new Series 62. Introduced by Fisher, it featured a sleek "torpedo" C-body with chrome window reveals, a more slanted windshield, and a curved rear window. Its distinctive grille, with heavier, fewer bars and two sets of louver bars on the hood, marked all V8 Cadillacs.

In 1941, the new one-piece hood extended lower and more broadly, merging with the side panels and fenders. The grille became broad and vertical, bulging in the center, with rectangular parking lights built into its outer corners. Headlights were sculpted into the fender noses, with fog light provisions below. Three chrome spears adorned the rear fenders, maintaining the sleek torpedo-style body and robust front-end design.

Ordered new in Black (51) with a Red leather (87) interior as shown on the trim tag, this 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe was indeed a stunning vehicle when new. A truly novel feature at the time, the 346 cu-in V8 was optioned with the four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. When restored, attention to the original detail was of top concern. When needed, a correct-style Black convertible top with Red piping can be deployed or discreetly stowed beneath the tan boot cover when lowered. The interior features a simulated wood-grained dashboard with an ivory and chrome steering wheel and a centrally mounted AM pushbutton radio with a chrome grille. Additional features include a driver's side spotlight, rear wheel shields, fog lights, and a fully automatic heater.

Acquired from the Blackhawk Collection in 2003, this 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe has been a longstanding Academy of Art Collection member for over 20 years. It benefits from a recently replaced brake master cylinder and rear wheel cylinders in April 2023. Earning the classification of a Full Classic by the Classic Car Club of America, this luxurious Cadillac remains a beautiful example of what was considered "The Standard of the World."
