1959 Mercedes-Benz 220 S Cabriolet
Lot 2120 | West Palm Beach
Chassis No. 180.030-8500663
Nineteen fifty-nine marked the final year of production for the 220 S Cabriolet, and with only 2,178 examples constructed over a four-year production run, a rare and elegant piece of Mercedes heritage. The 220 S Cabriolet is a fabulous way to enjoy an open-air cruise through the mountains enjoying the fall foliage, or along a forgotten coastal highway taking in all the sights and sounds along the way. Should it be a trip for two, use the rear seat to hold additional luggage when setting out on an extended getaway.
This 'Light-Blue' over cream leather example was the recipient of an older but high-quality restoration, which shows only minimal signs of wear and use since, owing to the loving care provided to it since completion. The ivory-colored steering wheel, in extraordinary condition, is a sought-after option that beautifully complements the cream leather. The superb woodwork seen throughout the car culminates in the magnificent dashboard that, with its bright, clear grain pattern, is in excellent condition. Fitted with a 2.2-liter straight six and a four-speed column shift manual, this would have no issues keeping up on a modern Autobahn. This car is accompanied today by a small tool kit and a binder of documents and receipts.
