After six years on the market, Ferrari turned its attention to refining its flagship 550 Maranello, resulting in the launch of the 575M Maranello in 2002. The new model featured a multitude of design and technical updates to Ferrari's most revered layout: the front-engine, rear-wheel-drive V12 Berlinetta. Tasked with the redesign, Pininfarina introduced subtle but meaningful exterior changes, including different headlights, a reshaped front spoiler, a larger hood scoop, repositioned fog lamps, a taller, narrower grille, and new five-spoke alloy wheels that reduced weight while modernizing the stance.

Under the hood, the familiar 65-degree V12 saw its bore increased to 89 mm and stroke to 77 mm, growing displacement from 5.5 liters to 5.7 liters—hence the name change to 575M, with “M” standing for Modificata. With a higher compression ratio of 11.0:1 and refined valve timing, output rose to an impressive 508 horsepower at 7,250 rpm and 434 lb-ft of torque at 5,250 rpm, maintaining Ferrari's high standards for performance.

While the headline feature of the 575M was the introduction of Ferrari's “F1” automated manual paddle-shift transmission, the allure of the traditional six-speed gated manual transmission remained irresistible for a select few. Research indicates that only 246 discerning owners opted for the classic three-pedal arrangement, preserving the “click-clack” sound of the open metal gate as the gearstick engages—a hallmark of Ferrari's most engaging driving experiences. There is nothing quite like a perfectly timed shift while rowing through the gears, creating an unfiltered connection between the car and the driver that no paddle or button can replicate.

Finished in Grigio Titanio (Titanium Grey), this 575M Maranello was delivered new through Ferrari San Francisco of Mill Valley, California, in July 2002 as one of approximately 80 six-speed-manual-equipped examples delivered to the United States. Inside, the optional Daytona-style seats were trimmed in elegant Blu Scuro (Dark Blue) leather that matched the optional colored steering wheel and upper dashboard. Additional notable options include aluminum-finished brake calipers, Scuderia Ferrari fender shields, and in-car satellite navigation. This is on top of the standard equipment of a limited-slip differential, Skyhook electronic suspension system with adjustable dampers, and 18-inch five-spoke aluminum alloy wheels.

The car remained in the Golden State with its first owner until it was brought to Illinois with its second owner in August 2004 with just 4,502 miles. Under their care for the next 17 years, the car was diligently maintained by Ferrari Lake Forest of Lake Bluff, Illinois. Their final service was a major timing belt service in early October 2021 at 23,259 miles. Following this service, the car went to its next owner later that month. The car ultimately came to reside with its current owner in February 2024. Under their care, the engine oil, brake fluid, transaxle fluid, and crankcase vent lines were replaced in May 2024 at 23,350 miles.

Today, these manual-equipped 575Ms represent the best of Ferrari's classic GT formula—a sublime front-engine V12, rear-wheel drive, paired with long-distance usability and driver engagement. As one of the final models to offer a gated six-speed, and with only approximately 80 examples delivered to the U.S., the manual 575M Maranello stands today as a highly sought-after piece of Ferrari's modern heritage, embodying the purity of driving that defines the marque at its best. Add to that the low 23,519 miles displayed on this example and an incredible presentation in elegant Grigio Titanio over a Blu Scuro leather interior to make for a truly irresistible option.
