According to its Deluxe Marti Report, this 1969 Shelby GT350 Convertible was ordered in the striking specification it wears today, finished in Black Jade Metallic over Black Clarion Knit/Corinthian Vinyl upholstery and equipped with the 351 cu-in V8, FMX Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission, Hi-Back Bucket Seats, a Black Power Top with a Glass Backlite, and 3.00:1 Traction-Lok rear axle. The Marti Report further confirms it as one of just two 1969 Shelby GT350 Convertibles produced in this exact specification.

In March 1970, Belgian racing driver and Shelby importer Claude Dubois delivered the car new through his Brussels dealership to Mr. Armand Pauwels, who would keep it for an extraordinary four decades. It is believed to be one of just two GT350 Convertibles ever sold new in Belgium. After Pauwels' passing, Dubois remained in contact with his widow and in 2011 introduced the car—by then showing approximately 113,000 kilometers—to Serge Allaert. He described it as being in an astonishingly fresh, time-capsule-like state for its age, retaining its original interior, soft top, and much of its Black Jade Metallic finish still beautifully intact. Recognizing Serge Allaert's appreciation for original, unrestored cars, Dubois quietly arranged the sale in 2011, making Allaert only the second custodian in the Shelby's history.

Allaert has continued the same preservation-minded approach, complemented by subtle, period-correct upgrades. Mechanically, the original 351cu-in V8 was professionally rebuilt and subtly upgraded in period-correct fashion, including a .030-inch overbore with Keith Black flat-top pistons and Hastings rings, H-beam rods with ARP fasteners, Comp Cams roller valvetrain and dual-roller timing, Manley valves with hardened seats, an AVIAID 7-quart pan with Melling high-volume pump, a Holley vacuum-secondary four-barrel, and period-style mid-length headers—bringing output to approximately 320 PS. Accompanied by its Marti Report and an impressive supporting history file, this Belgian-delivered GT350 Convertible stands out not only for its rare specification, but for the far rarer distinction of having been carefully preserved in its original Black Jade Metallic finish—a color seldom seen on unrestored examples today. That it has remained in the care of just two owners who understood precisely what it was makes it all the more exceptional.
